Press Release #5: The Green Hive consortium launches a Community Platform and European Contest to empower youth and connect Europe for sustainability

The Green Hive project - Cooperation Partnership co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union - continues to grow, building new connections across Europe and strengthening collaboration between educational institutions, innovators, local authorities, and businesses working together towards a more sustainable future.

In this phase of the project, two exciting initiatives are making headlines: the deployment of the GreenHive Community Platform and the launch of a European Contest — both designed to foster active participation and co-creation for environmental and educational innovation.

1️⃣ The Green Hive Community Platform

The Green Hive Community Platform is now online — a digital space where education, innovation and sustainability meet. Designed to bring together people and organisations from across Europe, the platform offers a dynamic environment where ideas can grow and collaboration can thrive.

It’s a platform connecting 15 local hubs to improve sustainability skills for 225 students through transnational collaboration; here educators, changemakers, local institutions and young innovators can interact, share knowledge, and work side by side to shape practical solutions for environmental challenges. Through this virtual hub, the Green Hive project promotes a new way of working together — open, participatory and impact-driven — to build a greener, more resilient future for all.

The platform is now open to everyone who believes in the power of collective action and is ready to contribute to a Europe that puts sustainability at the heart of learning and innovation.

2️⃣ The European Contest “Sustainability: New Perspectives For A Wicked Problem

The consortium launched a European Contest on the topic “Sustainability: New Perspectives For A Wicked Problem”, an opportunity for young people aged 16–26 across Europe to express their creativity and commitment to sustainability.

The competition aims to:

  • Promote innovative and sustainable VET programmes inspired by GreenComp;

  • Encourage the co-creation of solutions with students and external stakeholders;

  • Enhance the active role of students in design;

  • Disseminate good practices and inspire other VET centres;

  • Collect data for a study on GreenComp in VET;

  • Involve the community in voting;

  • Reward the most voted videos at national and European level.

The winning team will have the chance to present their solution during the GreenHive final conferences and be featured in a dedicated digital publication.
